John Ryan, Capitola
John and his family let neighbors know of their core water conservation values by placing this sign in their front entry.
Several years ago, John's family replaced a yard full of lawn with flagstones and drought tolerant grasses. They benefited from a turf replacement rebate and love the way their yard is constantly evolving into greater beauty.
Taking a quick shower after a surf session has decreased their water use significantly. And, they divert the outdoor shower water to their garden and roses. Getting clean while watering the flowers has never been easier.
In John's home, the two showers each contain a large bucket so they can capture water for their outdoor plants.
Growing up in Capitola has been a wonderful experience for both John and his brother, Jake. They love ocean sports and cherish water in our region.
