Soquel, California (June 22, 2023) — Soquel Creek Water District (SqCWD) today announced that Board of Director, Dr. Bruce Daniels, has stepped down after serving the community with dedication and distinction for 23 years. Dr. Daniels officially left his position on June 19, 2023, following a remarkable legacy of service and leadership.

During his tenure, Daniels played a pivotal role in shaping the direction of SqCWD, contributing to numerous initiatives and programs that have significantly improved water management and conservation efforts in the region. His unwavering commitment to a healthy environment and ensuring the long-term sustainability of water resources, and championing Pure Water Soquel has been instrumental in safeguarding the district's water supply for future generations.

Under Daniels' guidance, SqCWD has made remarkable strides in achieving its goals, including implementing innovative conservation measures like the Water Demand Offset (WDO) Program and exploring alternative water sources. His strategic vision and deep understanding of climate change and water management issues have positioned the district as a model for sustainable water practices. While Dr. Daniels is stepping down from the Board to focus on traveling and pursuing a volunteer research project on the mathematical underpinnings of climate change algorithms used in models, he plans on continuing to be a volunteer and supporter of the District.

"Bruce Daniels has been an invaluable member of the Soquel Creek Water District team, and his contributions have had a lasting impact on our community," said General Manager Ron Duncan. "His unwavering dedication to preserving our water resources and his ability to navigate complex issues have made him an exceptional leader. He came to the District with a rich background, having served on the Region IX Water Quality Control Board, and before that, he was integral in creating the Lisa and Macintosh computers.

The Soquel Creek Water District and staff extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Bruce Daniels for his years of dedicated service. His indelible contributions and profound impact will be remembered for years to come.
