District Promotes Nicholas Emmert to Operations & Maintenance Manager
Emmert strives to streamline operations and create a culture where people love to come to work
Soquel, CA (April 3, 2023) - The Soquel Creek Water District is proud to announce the appointment of Nicholas Emmert as its new Operations and Maintenance Manager
(O&M). Emmert joined the District in February 2019 when he was hired as the Water Sampling Technician. He was promoted to the O&M Supervisor position in May 2021 and has been the interim O&M Department Manager since October 2022.
Emmert brings a diverse background in water to this position. He started his water career at Forest Lakes Mutual in Felton, CA, where he learned the ins and outs of a small water system and what it takes to provide safe water to residents 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Emmert then progressed his career as an Operator with Scotts Valley Water District, where he gained knowledge in supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), water quality sampling, and the operations of a larger water system. Since joining Soquel Creek Water District, he has gained vast knowledge from his positions as the Water Sampling Technician while sampling the District’s network of over 80 monitoring wells and as O&M Supervisor, managing people and projects.
“We are proud to be able to promote from within and excited to have him on board,” says General Manager Ron Duncan. “During his time stepping into the Interim role, and especially during the recent storm events, Nick demonstrated strong leadership skills and has a fresh perspective to the position.”
Emmert’s focus in his new position is two-fold; to solidify workflows and processes to streamline operations and create a culture where people love to come to work.
