Nate Gillespie Hired as Soquel Creek Water District's
New Operations & Maintenance Manager
Soquel, CA (May 12, 2022) - The Soquel Creek Water District is proud to announce the appointment of Nate Gillespie as its new Operations and Maintenance Manager. Gillespie took the reins as the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) department leader on May 9, 2022, succeeding long-time O&M Manager Christine Mead upon her recent retirement.
Gillespie has an extensive background in local water resources, water supply operations, and water quality management. Prior to joining the Soquel Creek Water District team, he worked at two neighboring public water agencies. Gillespie devoted the last several years to the San Lorenzo Valley Water District (SLVWD) as the Water Quality and Treatment Manager, serving a critical role in regulatory compliance and overseeing the day-to-day operations of their water treatment facilities. He provided a unique and vital role for the SLVWD during and after the CZU fire by working with California’s water quality regulatory agency and communicating with the community on the state of the fire-ravaged water supply. Prior to SLVWD, Gillespie spent over a decade with the City of Santa Cruz Water Department in the water quality division.
His focus as a water professional has been to “provide safe and reliable drinking water to all ratepayers by ensuring effective infrastructure management through a constant state of evaluation.” He is an experienced manager who is excited to expand professionally by joining the Soquel Creek Water District team and taking on this important role as O&M Manager.
