District Awarded Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Award
Soquel, CA (July 11, 2018) – Soquel Creek Water District is proud to announce that it has, for the second year in a row, received the prestigious Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. The award is in recognition of the District's 2016-17 comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2017.
This Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. "It is an honor to receive this award for the second straight year," said Leslie Strohm, Finance and Business Services Manager. "It demonstrates the District's commitment in going beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to ensure all our financial statements reflect transparency and full disclosure."
To be awarded a Certificate of Achievement, a government entity must publish an easily readable and efficiently organized comprehensive annual financial report. The District's CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including the demonstration of a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" that clearly communicate the District's financial story.
The Government Finance Officers Association is a major professional association servicing the needs of nearly 19,000 appointed and elected local, state, and provincial-level government officials and other finance practitioners.
