Urban Water Management Plan

What is the Urban Water Management Plan?

The Urban Water Management Plan (UWMP) is a report that is required by the California Urban Water Management Planning Act (California Water Code, Division 6, Part 2.6). All water providers that have over 3,000 service connections or annually supply 3,000 acre-feet of water or more, must complete a new UWMP every five years. Soquel Creek Water District finalized the 2015 UWMP in June of 2016. The 2020 UWMP (PDF) is due to the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) on July 1, 2021.

The 2020 UWMP is a long-range planning document that assesses current water demand, projects future demand over a minimum 20-year planning horizon and identifies a mix of water resources and conservation efforts to meet future demand. The 2020 UWMP also includes the District’s Water Shortage Contingency Plan  (WSCP) which identifies water shortage stages and associated curtailment actions to allow for efficient management of any water shortage with predictability and accountability. The WSCP is a component of the 2020 UWMP but can be viewed as a stand-alone document and must be adopted separately.
