Hospitality Water Restrictions

Stage 3 Water Restrictions and Water Conservation Program for the Hospitality Industry: Restaurants, Hotels & Vacation Rentals

In a Stage 3 Water Shortage Emergency, commercial customers are required to help reduce overall water use by 25% compared to 2013 consumption and meet specific local and state water regulations, especially pertaining to hospitality businesses (restaurants, hotels & vacation rentals). Conserve water in your hotel, vacation rental or restaurant by communicating with water saving signs and new fixtures. Schedule a visit and receive the signs, placards and high-efficiency spray nozzles, aerators and hose nozzles if needed.

Requirements for All Businesses

  1. Post signs to display 'save water'.  A Business Conservation sign that satisfies this requirement can be downloaded HERE.
  2. Restaurants may only serve drinking water upon customer request. Click here for a sign to download and post.
  3. Lodging establishments must give customers the option to forgo daily linen service.
  4. No hosing down of hard or paved surfaces (except when necessary for health and safety, and use of a positive shut-off valve or pressure sprayer is required).
  5. No exterior washing of structures (unless for sanitation and health purposes or in preparation to paint or stain and a pressure washer is used).
  6. Other general water waste restrictions.
