Can the City of Santa Cruz and the Mid-County use recycled water to meet water supply shortfalls? Come find out at an informational meeting on Recycled Water on Thursday, September 23rd from 6:30 to 8:30 at the Simpkins Swim Center located at 979 17th Ave. in Santa Cruz. The speakers will be Heidi Luckenbach, the scwd2 Desalination Program Coordinator, Dr. David W. Smith, the Managing Director of WateReuse Association of California, Todd Reynolds, the Senior Engineer from Kennedy Jenks Consultants, Mary Bannister, the General Manager at Pajaro Valley Water Management Agency, and Charles McNiesh, General Manager, Scotts Valley Water District.
Heidi Luckenbach, the scwd2 Desalination Program Coordinator, will give an overview of why water is a critical issue for our community and how supply shortfalls affect the City of Santa Cruz and Soquel Creek Water District. Mary Bannister, the General manager for the Pajaro Valley Water Management Agency, and Charles McNiesh, the General Manager of Scotts Valley Water District, will explain how recycled water is being used for irrigation in Scotts Valley and the Pajaro Valley as part of their water supply. Todd Reynolds, the Senior Engineer from Kennedy Jenks Consultants, and David W. Smith, the Managing Director of WateReuse Association of California, will explain the opportunities and limitations of recycled water for the City of Santa Cruz, Mid-County area, and other areas of California.
The community’s recycled water questions will be answered during the Q and A session following the presentations.
