water
awareness exhibit at the Santa Cruz County Fair
The
Soquel Creek Water District participates in presenting
"The World of Water," a Water Awareness/Education
Day at the Santa Cruz County Fair with other participating
water and environmental agencies within Santa Cruz County. The
exhibit is held on the two days the fair designates as "Education Day" and is open to elementary school
children.
"The
World of Water" water awareness area consists of
structured learning stations and exhibits at which students
engage in hands-on water activities and investigations. Station
topics include subjects such as the hydrologic cycle, ground
water, surface water, water quality, water conservation,
agricultural water use, watershed, recycling and groundwater
protection, and water efficient plants.
Thousands
of elementary school students participate
in the “World of Water” water awareness area each year.
