privacy and security policy
The Soquel Creek Water District respects your privacy and your trust is very important to us. This notice explains the District’s privacy policies for its internet use and our commitment to protecting your privacy online.

Please note that the Soquel Creek Water District web site contains links to third party web sites. When you link to an outside web site, you are no longer on our web site and are subject to the privacy policy and other practices of the new site. Soquel Creek Water District is not responsible for the practices or content of these or any other sites.

1. The information we gather from you
If you are simply browsing our site, we do not gather any personally identifying information about you. Like most internet sites, we automatically collect standard, anonymous statistical information, which includes:

  • IP address
  • The date and time you visited our site
  • The pages you visited

We use these statistics for aggregation purposes only to help us improve the usefulness of our web site.

2. Personal Information
We do not collect personal information about you when you visit our site unless:

  • you enroll in the Soquel Creek Water Online Bill Pay program, or
  • you send us e-mail or contact us by telephone or in person.

If you contact us via e-mail or otherwise, you will necessarily be providing personally identifying information. We use links throughout our site to provide you with the opportunity to contact us via e-mail to ask questions, request information, sign up for direct payment, make changes to your account, or provide comments and suggestions. You may also be offered the opportunity to have one of our representatives contact you personally to provide additional information. To do so, we will require personally identifying information from you, such as your e-mail address, name, telephone number, account number, and/or credit card number to help us satisfy your request. By contacting us via these means, you consent to our collection of personally identifying information. Only those employees who have a need to know or respond to your requests will have access to the information you provide.

4. Disclosure of personally identifying information to third parties
We do not share, provide or sell personally identifying information to third parties for the purpose of telemarketing, e-mail or direct mail solicitation.

We may, at our option, provide or otherwise disclose personally identifying data you have voluntarily provided to comply with the law, legal process or to collect unpaid bills, or to resolve customer disputes or inquiries.

5. Cookies
Cookies are small text files used on a web site to recognize a repeat visitor to its site. Cookies are not programs that penetrate a user’s system and damage files. The District does not use cookies except for the online BillPay* portion of the web site. Cookies are used then only for application purposes and as part of the authentication process. These cookies do not store sensitive information and disappear as soon as you sign out of the BillPay* program.

* NOTE: BillPay is a feature not yet available to customers. Check back soon.

6. Security
This web site uses industry standard SSL (Secured Sockets Layer) to offer secure communications by encrypting all data to and from the site.

7. Our right to change privacy and security policy
We reserve the right to change this policy at any time, without notice, by posting the new or revised privacy policy at this location www.soquelcreekwater.org.
