featured art: Albert Moyo

Albert Moyo’s art reflects an unusually developed eye for form and color. His work is inspired by everyday life - people on the streets, the urban landscape, and relationships. The figurative paintings capture light and energy. Moyo’s great color vocabulary quickens the viewer’s pulse. He makes the commonplace beautiful. Like a contemporary impressionist painter, he finds beauty in movement. Moyo captures people in the routine of daily life. He depicts work, relationships, competition and natural landscape. His figures are wrapped in sublime yellow ochre light. Everything is moving; people are interacting and enjoying themselves. Moyo celebrates life and people. Born in 1979 in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, Moyo has studied art at Mzilikazi Art Centre and is now collected around the globe. His redemptive paintings reflect a global humanity by foregrounding the human spirit while forgoing issues of race and gender. He paints figures in harmony; figures who represent an anonymous global everyday person. Low on irony and high on commonality, Moyo’s entrancing work shares life’s pleasures.

Moyo's work hangs in South Africa, USA , Germany, France, Holland, Canada, London and Zimbabwe.
