The
Soquel Creek Water District is a nonprofit, local government
agency that provides water resource management within its
service area to deliver a safe and reliable supply of
high-quality water to meet present and future needs in an
environmentally sensitive and economically responsible way.
The
day-to-day operations are carried out by the general manager,
who is appointed by the Board
of Directors. The Board of Directors is responsible for
policy decisions, which govern the operation of the District.
Founded in 1961, the
"Soquel Creek County Water District's" purpose was
to provide flood control and water conservation services. The
District acquired the Monterey Bay Water Company in 1964 and
discontinued flood control services. In 1983,
"County" was dropped from the name and the District
became known as Soquel Creek Water District.
Today, the District
serves more than 49,000 customers through 14,900 connections
in four service areas within mid-Santa Cruz County. Ninety
percent of our customers are residential.
